What is the time zone in Ireland?

Ireland operates on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), 5 hours ahead of Eastern Time and 8 hours ahead of Pacific Time. Please adjust your watch accordingly.

What is the weather like in Ireland in May?

May weather in Ireland is typically mild and can be unpredictable. Expect average highs around 60°F (15°C) and lows around 45°F (7°C), with a mix of sunshine and rain. Bring layers and a rain jacket.

Packing and Clothing

How much luggage am I allowed?

Check with your airline’s website for specific information on baggage allowance, costs, carry-on policies and restrictions. You are responsible for any checked bag fees or additional charges (e.g., bags over the weight limit, extra bags, etc.).

What should I wear?

We suggest you pack the following essentials:

  • Comfortable walking shoes.

  • Layers for the changing weather.

  • A rain jacket.

  • A daypack.

  • Water bottle.

  • Camera.

  • Electrical Adaptor

Which power outlets do they use in Ireland?

Ireland uses a large Type G power outlet with three square prongs. Ireland’s standard voltage is 230V and 50Hz frequency. This is different from the voltage in the US, which uses 120 volts, so you’ll need to use an adapter to plug in your electronics while in Ireland. A Universal Adapter is your best bet and will allow you to plug in all your American electronics in Irish power outlets. We also recommend using this particular adapter because it works in over 100 other countries around the world, so you’ll be able to use it for future travels, too.

Is there a themed dinner this year?

No, there will not be a themed dinner for DDC25. Dublin is a casual city, so feel free to dress comfortably. The excursions are casual and require walking. Dress comfortably including comfortable walking shoes.
